Camp Brave Heart
Children's Hospital & Medical Center believes every child should have the chance to participate in important childhood activities like summer camp, despite an underlying condition like heart disease. Camp Brave Heart of Nebraska was established in 2001 to provide children with heart disease this opportunity.
Camp Brave Heart is a week-long camp held in conjunction with the YMCA's Camp Kitaki, which offers a variety of fun outdoor activities including hiking, archery, swimming and horseback riding. To ensure the medical safety of your child, members of our cardiology staff are on site at all times to dispense medications or handle emergencies.
We believe that spending a week at camp encourages independence and will create memories for your child that will last a lifetime. Many of our campers return year after year.
Camp Kitaki is a highly reputable YMCA camp located in South Bend, Neb., between Lincoln and Omaha. The St. Elizabeth Foundation and Midwest Heart Connection offer generous support to help defray the cost of camp.
