Diagnosis
The first step in the evaluation of a child suspected to have a polyposis syndrome is a visit with the team during which a thorough medical history, a detailed family history and physical evaluation are performed. Through discussion and review of records, the team decides on a set of recommendations that may include endoscopic procedures and genetic testing after genetic counseling. A family pedigree, as in a diagram, helps the physicians in formulating a detailed plan of action.
