Saturday - 10:00 a.m.
Kyle
falls hard on his abdomen while playing soccer. He has a hard time getting his
breath. His abdomen hurts the rest of the day. Monday - 8:00 a.m.
Kyle’s abdomen still hurts and he doesn’t feel well. Kyle’s
mom decides that she should take Kyle to see his doctor. Monday - 10:00 a.m.
Kyle’s doctor wants to schedule Kyle for a CT
scan of his abdomen at Children’s Hospital. His office calls
Children’s Radiology Scheduling and makes an appointment for the
following day. The office secretary gives Kyle and his mother aRAD NEWS flier that describes the CT
procedure and what Kyle needs to do before he comes to Children’s Hospital on
his exam day. Kyle is told not to eat or drink anything for four hours before
his exam. The secretary also suggests that mom call her insurance company to see
if they need authorization before the CT exam. It turned out that
pre-authorization was necessary.
