Melody Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve (TPV)

Children’s Hospital & Medical Center was among the first fifty centers in the United States and was the first hospital in Nebraska to offer the Melody Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve (TPV).  The Melody TPV represents a significant advance in heart valve replacement because it does not require open heart surgery.

The valve is delivered using a catheter inserted through a vein in the groin or neck, eliminating the need to open the chest.  This generally allows patients to recover more quickly and lessens the length of time the patient must stay in the hospital.
