Sleep Disorders Clinic
The Sleep Disorders Clinic at Children's Hospital & Medical Center can provide diagnosis, management and treatment of your child's sleep problems so he or she can get the vital sleep he or she needs for normal growth and development. The Sleep Disorders Clinic is staffed by the pediatric pulmonologists at Children's. Having specialized training in pediatric sleep medicine is very important since the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders varies greatly from that of adults.
The Sleep Disorders Clinic treats a variety of conditions, including:
- Breathing disorders associated with neuromuscular disorders
- Central hypoventilation syndrome
- Obstructive sleep apnea
- Periodic leg movement disorder
- Restless leg syndrome
- Upper airway and craniofacial anomalies
During your clinic visit it may be determined that further evaluation is needed at our Sleep Lab, which can provide us important physiological information to accurately diagnose your child's sleep disorder.
In many cases, your child's sleep problem can be effectively managed and treated in the clinic through one or a combination of therapies including lifestyle and behavioral changes, medication management, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and/or surgical recommendations.
