The Carolyn Scott Rainbow House located at 7825 Farnam Drive in Omaha is a 56-room guest house for out-of-town families who are coming to Children’s Nebraska from more than 90 miles outside of Omaha.

Who Can Stay At Rainbow House?
Our first priority is to provide lodging for parents, guardians, and siblings of Children’s patients who live more than 90 miles from Omaha. While Rainbow House cannot offer accommodations to extended family, we do have recommendations for nearby hotels that provide patient family discounts. Background checks are required for all Rainbow House guests.
What Amenities Does Rainbow House Offer?
All rooms have one or two queen beds, a full-size, pull-out sofa bed, an ADA-compliant bathroom, computer connectivity, and WiFi.
Rainbow House also offers:
- Large kitchen with 4 cooking stations
- Food storage lockers and a dorm-size refrigerator for each room
- Dining room
- Outdoor patio and playground
- Game room, and playroom
- Sitting areas on each floor
- Laundry rooms on each floor
- Bookshelves on each floor (you keep the book)
- Social Work: Monday & Wednesday 8:30am – 12:30pm | Tuesday and Thursday 12:30pm – 4:30pm
What Does It Cost To Stay At Rainbow House?
Rainbow House lodging is free to eligible Children’s patients and families. Donations are greatly appreciated to help offset the $70 cost of each nightly room stay. Gifts made by check or credit card are preferred.
What Time Is Check-in?
The front desk is staffed 24/7. We prefer families check in by 9 p.m. If your family is going to arrive after 9 p.m., please let us know when you call to make your reservation: 402-955-7815.
Are Meals Available At Rainbow House?
Occasionally, we are able to offer meals donated by community groups and individuals. On days when meals are scheduled, we will post a menu and food will be served buffet-style between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Meals are not scheduled for Fridays or Saturdays.
Is Transportation To Children’s Available?
Rainbow House offers shuttle service 7 days a week to Children’s. The front desk staff can give you a copy of the shuttle schedule when you arrive.
All children are required to have proper car seats to ride the shuttle. Rainbow House does not provide car seats.
Can I Have Visitors At Rainbow House?
Visitors are welcome at Rainbow House until 8:30 p.m. To protect the health of patients with compromised immune systems, we ask that no one who is sick with an infectious illness visit.
